The Five-Fold Gifts: Part 02 - Given Until

Many people do not believe apostle and prophets still exist today. How long does the Scriptures say these Five-fold gifts were given? “Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (ESV) In other words, until the church reaches the full measure of Christ maturity. I have never met anyone who would say that the church has ever reached full maturity. It can be hard at times to even fathom this possibility. And yet the Scriptures declare that this was Christ’s intention in giving these gifts.

So, if the church has not reached full maturity, then we can confidently conclude that they are all still here on the earth: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. It does not matter if one does not understand these gifts or know how to recognize them. Understanding first begins with becoming aware that they are still around.
